Climate Change & Me Photo Contest

And the winners are…

This year’s contest asked our followers to stop and think about how climate change has touched their life by capturing it in a photo.

Congratulations to our three top winners as chosen by you, our viewers and supporters…

We hope our photo contests inspire our audiences, activists, and artists to continue celebrating and protecting both water and earth’s climate.

FIRST PLACE:
Tyler Yantzi
”My three sons, collecting maple sap by windsurf board, in a flooded forest, in late February. This is becoming an increasingly common way to harvest our sap in a climate marked by increasingly erratic weather patterns. Also, notice the dead ash trees tipped at 45 degrees in the background. Another harbinger of climate change as the Emerald Ash Borer spreads further north in a warming climate.”

SECOND PLACE:
Stephannie Alexandra Guajardo
“Water... unflavoured, so clear, so simple, but indispensable. The source of the life.”

THIRD PLACE:
Ivor Levin

”Branch Manager”

1st Prize:

$500 Visa Vanilla Gift Card

2nd & 3rd Prizes:
Water Docs branded T-Shirt
& Water Bottle

All photo submission participants were automatically entered into a draw for a STEFANI WATER PURIFIER courtesy of Anarres Natural Health Apothecary - retail value up to $425.
Our congratulations goes out to the winner, Dawna Tracey-Armstrong!

The Water Docs team thanks everyone who participated.

For decades, the gravel mining industry has blasted, dug, crushed and trucked across Ontario with apparent impunity.

The gravel mining industry is authorized to extract thirteen times more gravel every year than what we use, from more than 5,000 existing gravel mining sites in Ontario.

The provincial government allows the gravel mining industry to consume on average an additional 5,000 acres of land each year.

We — the people of Ontario — demand that our government impose an immediate moratorium on all new gravel mining approvals, until an independent panel can chart a new path forward.
