Water ripples deeply in each of us.
To stir that rippling is to awaken action.

Listen Up!

Valuing water and how it effects climate change on World Water Day… and on ALL days.

The theme for this year’s World Water Day celebration was and is Valuing Water. Below you will find lots of amazing content we have gathered together for you to help celebrate this amazing day. We all value water in different ways and the United Nations is inviting everyone to share their unique connection with water on social media using the hashtags #WorldWaterDay, #Water2Me, #ActionForWater and #WaterIsLife.

These hashtags will unite people from around the world in their appreciation for water and we want to be part of that conversation as well. That’s why on March 22nd we invite you to use the hashtag #WaterDocsWWD when you post any of the below content or share how you value water.

We will respond and engage with your posts when you use our hashtag as we want to help make this World Water Day the best yet and help amplify everyone's voice in our shared appreciation for water.

Understanding Water and Climate Change

What does World Water Day mean to you?

We’d like to share your comments over the coming weeks to help keep us connected to a common goal of caring for our planet, our water, and for each other.

Also, we've created a space for our readers to share their experiences and connections with water and in turn, with each other.

We invite you to enjoy a number of stories that have been shared through our website and if you feel moved, please share your story with us. And don't forget to send a picture along to illustrate it too.

Every day in rural communities throughout sub-Saharan Africa, millions of people suffer from a lack of access to clean, safe water. For school-aged children it's a burden that traps them in poverty.

Raising Water Stewards for Life

Using a unique, hands-on approach, Water Docs @ School brings young people into a close relationship with water, building their understanding of water systems and instilling a passion for water stewardship.

Water Docs @ School Action Projects is a seven-month long learning and action program for Ontario Grade 7 & 8 students, delivered through a partnership between Ecologos and Learning for a Sustainable Future. This completely cost-free program has been used successfully at schools across the province and praised by teachers for: delivering the entire Ontario curriculum on water, cultivating a deep caring for the environment, developing skills in leadership, team-building, project management and filmmaking.

Take a peek at the winners of the 2020 Water Docs @ School Action Projects program including the Best Project and the Best Film videos and the really excellent Runners-up films and projects too!

What’s In Store for Water Docs

We want to let our wonderful readers and supporters know that there is lots going on behind the scenes at Ecologos/Water Docs.

As you read this we are hard at work on a rebranding project as part of our Water Docs 10th Anniversary Celebration. We'll share more about this soon as the project gets more firmly underway.

10th-anniversary.jpg

We are also very busy planning our 10th Anniversary Film Festival (Woohoo!) which will take place sometime in the Fall of 2021. As this is such a huge milestone for our festival we are in the midst of planning and organizing our biggest event to date and we can't wait to share it with you!

On top of that, we are in the early stages of establishing new partnerships that will help us increase our commitment to climate action, as well as address biases we hold as an organization. We are working on becoming more cognizant of the intersectionality of how we operate and what we produce as an organization.

All that to say this is an exciting time for Ecologos/Water Docs and we hope you'll stay with us for this journey. Stay tuned and be the first to know about the developments we are making!

Be safe and take care,
The Ecologos/Water Docs Team
